The Challenge
With a history spanning over a century, Stormy Kromer's existing BigCommerce site had become dated and difficult to manage. Internal efforts and previous freelancers had not delivered the desired results. They needed a partner to provide ongoing support and maintenance without the high costs and rigid structures of traditional agencies.

Project Goals
Enhance website design and overall user experience (UX).
Migrate their current BigCommerce theme to Cornerstone.
Refine the visual aesthetics and functionality of their online presence.
Clean up navigation and product links.
Create a modular, marketing-friendly layout for the homepage and key content areas.
Ensure the new site remained true to the brand's iconic, outdoorsy feel.
Update default email templates to align with the new UX and refreshed branding.
Optimize category page color filters to simplify color selection and improve UX.
Our Approach
We started with a full UX/CRO audit to pinpoint friction across navigation, product discovery, and checkout. From there, our design team created custom UX/UI layouts in Adobe XD, which were then implemented on the Cornerstone theme by our developers. This included cleaning up outdated links, simplifying page structures, and refreshing on-brand visual elements. As part of the rebuild, we also updated all default BigCommerce and Klaviyo email templates to match the new UX direction and Stormy Kromer’s refreshed branding, ensuring a consistent experience from site to inbox.


Outcome
Stormy Kromer transitioned from frustrating in-house attempts and unreliable freelancers to a long-term partnership with AOC, benefiting from a scalable solution that fits their budget and allows them to focus on their core business: crafting quality apparel for their loyal customers. The new Cornerstone-based site is easier to manage, easier to shop, and better aligned with a brand that has been outfitting customers for generations, providing a stronger foundation for ongoing marketing and seasonal updates.
