The Challenge
After a long stretch of failed attempts to rebuild their online presence, Alaska Arms contacted AOC through the BigCommerce partner directory. Their Shopify project had stalled with a previous freelancer who, in their words, “just moved his mouse around and listened to music.” Larger agencies refused the work due to the client’s modest budget, leaving them without a credible partner able to deliver a stable, scalable ecommerce foundation.
They needed a complete Shopify-to-BigCommerce migration, a redesigned Homepage and Product Page, help untangling complex product data issues, and a partner who could preserve SEO while correcting indexation problems and internal errors. Most importantly, they needed a dependable team to finally take ownership of the project and bring it to completion.

Project Goals
Complete a full platform migration from Shopify to BigCommerce.
Prepare and launch a fully functioning BigCommerce store with clean architecture.
Redesign the Homepage, Product Page, About Us Page
Resolve product data inconsistencies and improve catalog structure.
Optimize category layouts for clearer navigation and stronger UX.
Fix internal error pages and eliminate SEO-damaging crawl issues
Rewrite title tags and meta descriptions for search clarity.
Strengthen domain authority with targeted, high-quality niche backlinks.
Ensure all SEO value and rankings transitioned safely to the new platform.
Our Approach
We migrated all product, category, and customer data from Shopify to BigCommerce using Cart2Cart, then manually validated all attributes, variants, and catalog details to ensure accuracy. With the foundation in place, our UX/UI team redesigned the Homepage and Product Page in Adobe XD, focusing on clarity, hierarchy, and buyer intent. We restructured category layouts, streamlined navigation pathways, and resolved product data inconsistencies that were causing friction. To protect visibility during the platform transition, we executed a full SEO preservation plan including URL mapping, cleaned metadata, 301 redirects, and the correction of internal error pages. Finally, we strengthened long-term organic performance by building high-quality backlinks from reputable, industry-relevant sources.

Outcome
The migration to BigCommerce gave Alaska Arms the stable, high-performing ecommerce foundation their previous partners could never deliver. The new store loads faster, is easier to navigate, and finally showcases their precision-engineered firearm components with the clarity and professionalism their brand deserves. SEO rankings were preserved through meticulous mapping and redirect work, while improved product structure and stronger category layouts helped drive significant gains in organic traffic, conversions, and average order value. With a reliable platform, clean data, and a partner they trust, Alaska Arms can now focus on growth instead of troubleshooting, and continue serving their discerning customers with the quality and craftsmanship they are known for.
