The Challenge
Their existing BigCommerce store was no longer keeping pace with the brand’s growth or reflecting the depth of their product catalog. The site felt dated, was harder to manage than it should have been, and lacked the flexibility required to support complex shipping rules and a growing mix of B2C and B2B customers.
Internally, they had relied on a single in-house resource to manage everything from development and data to UX, CRO, SEO and ongoing fixes. While capable, that role simply could not cover the full range of skills required, resulting in bottlenecks, slower progress, and growing technical debt. US Rigging needed a single, dependable partner with a full team behind them, one that could handle everything without juggling multiple vendors or skill gaps.
At the same time, protecting organic search visibility was non-negotiable. Any platform or structural changes had to preserve SEO equity while delivering a more modern, scalable, and conversion-focused ecommerce experience.

Project Goals
Migrate the entire store from BigCommerce to Shopify Plus while preserving existing SEO rankings.
Implement a fresh, user-centric design.
Transfer all vital store elements, including the header, footer, homepage, product pages, category pages, and checkout page, ensuring all SEO metadata was properly migrated.
Migrate all blog posts while maintaining their SEO value.
Revamp the cart page to enhance user experience.
Integrate an eye-catching "Shop Now" CTA button on the homepage.
Update the video section on the homepage.
Introduce a "View All Brands" button to improve navigation.
Apply the approved category page design consistently throughout the site.
Create custom templates for essential pages like the Glossary and About Us.
Implement new subcategory thumbnails for the mega menu and category pages using the client-provided assets.
Configure ShipperHQ on Shopify Plus with settings mirroring those from BigCommerce.
Transition Yotpo reviews smoothly onto Shopify Plus.
Transfer all product, customer, and order data using LiteExtension
Our Approach
Our approach centered on replacing fragmented, single-resource execution with a coordinated, multi-disciplinary team that could own the entire ecommerce lifecycle. We began by carefully migrating all existing content and data from BigCommerce to Shopify Plus, placing a strong emphasis on protecting SEO equity and improving data structure. URLs were fully mapped, metadata preserved, and 301 redirects implemented to ensure rankings and organic traffic remained intact throughout the transition.
With a stable foundation in place, design and development efforts moved in parallel. The storefront was restructured to better reflect the depth of the product catalog, support both B2C and B2B audiences, and simplify ongoing management. Checkout flows were streamlined, complex shipping logic was accounted for, and the site was built to be easier to maintain without sacrificing flexibility. Personalized product recommendations and social integrations were layered in to support conversion and engagement, giving the business a scalable platform backed by a single, reliable partner instead of multiple skill gaps.


Outcome
The Shopify Plus rebuild delivered a more scalable and flexible ecommerce foundation that supports both B2C and B2B customers without sacrificing performance or SEO equity. The new storefront is easier to navigate, simpler for internal teams to manage, and far better suited to handling a large, complex catalog and advanced shipping requirements.
Today, US Rigging continues to work with AOC on a Monthly Service Model, allowing the site to evolve alongside the business. Ongoing support covers UX improvements, data updates, technical maintenance, and optimization, giving US Rigging a reliable, long-term partner rather than a single point of failure. The result is a modern, conversion-focused platform built for continuous improvement and sustained growth.
