Search Opportunity
SEO had become Bad Dog Tools' highest-priority growth need, but the internal team did not have the bandwidth to execute research, optimization, content, technical search work, and monitoring consistently while managing the rest of the business. The approved source also identifies structured data as an area requiring focused attention.
Beginning with search created a focused way to restore execution momentum while keeping the engagement centered on organic discovery, product education, and search-system clarity.

Search Priorities
Increase organic search traffic from qualified shoppers.
Improve visibility for high-intent product keywords, including drill-bit related searches.
Improve content depth with buyer-focused resources, FAQs, and product education.
Use schema markup and site-structure improvements to support search visibility and AI-search readiness.
Monitor keyword performance and traffic trends monthly so recommendations could be adjusted over time.
SEO & GEO Strategy
Specialty tools require shoppers to understand use cases, compatibility, and product differences before buying. The search program connected keyword targeting with stronger product education, page structure, internal linking, metadata, and technical clarity rather than treating SEO as a one-time metadata task. The approved scope also supports GEO/AI-search-readiness language through schema, structured information, and AI-search-readiness work.

What We Implemented

Keyword Research and Mapping
Keyword research mapped product-specific, category-level, and related terms to the pages best positioned to answer each search intent.

On-Page SEO and GEO Readiness
Metadata, internal links, site structure, and page copy were refined together so priority pages were clearer to shoppers and search engines while supporting AI-search readiness.

Content Expansion and Product Education
Buyer guides, FAQs, and tool-usage content filled information gaps that competitors or existing product pages did not address, giving shoppers more context before purchase.

Schema and Search Visibility Improvements
Schema markup was added to clarify page and product information for search systems and support richer-result eligibility where applicable.

Keyword Research and Mapping
Monthly review of rankings, organic traffic, and ecommerce performance helped identify which pages were gaining traction and where the next opportunity was emerging.
Search Visibility Results
| Metric | Result | Context |
|---|---|---|
| Organic Search Traffic | Up 6.05% | +178% |
| Keyword Ranking | #2 Google position for "drill bits" | Point-in-time Google search result |
| Conversion Rate | Reached 0.85%, up from 0.79% | March 2025 vs. March 2026 |
| Orders | Up 44.03% to 350 orders | March 2025 vs. March 2026 |
| Revenue | Up 42.61% to $58,837.25 | March 2025 vs. March 2026 |
| Customers | Up 53.52% to 327 customers | March 2025 vs. March 2026 |
Business Context
The results table also records broader ecommerce performance over the March 2025 vs. March 2026 comparison period: conversion rate reached 0.85%, up from 0.79%; orders increased 44.03% to 350; revenue increased 42.61% to $58,837.25; and customers increased 53.52% to 327. Because the engagement began in October 2025, March 2025 serves as the pre-engagement year-over-year baseline. These store-wide figures provide business context and are not attributed solely to SEO.
Outcome
Organic search traffic increased 6.05% from March 2025 to March 2026, and a point-in-time Google result placed Bad Dog Tools at #2 for the high-intent query “drill bits.” Because the engagement began in October 2025, March 2025 serves as the pre-engagement year-over-year baseline.
Over the same comparison period, the store also recorded gains in orders, revenue, customers, and conversion rate. Those figures provide broader e-commerce context and are not attributed solely to SEO.
For a specialty tool brand serving DIY and wholesale buyers, the program created a clearer connection between search intent, product education, and the pages built to support a purchase decision.
