The Challenge
After outgrowing their older Chiara theme, Mami’s Gelato was looking for a complete brand refresh. The design no longer reflected the brand’s fun, approachable personality, and operators found it difficult to understand the differences between mixes or determine which product was right for them. The site lacked clear guidance, strong hierarchy, and a cohesive flow linking educational content to product selection. Mami’s began vetting several BigCommerce agencies, but most proposals came with enterprise retainers and large minimums that made little sense for an SMB. They needed a partner who could modernize the site, upgrade the Chiara theme, and sharpen the UX around choosing the right mix.

Our Approach
We mapped the existing site to the capabilities of the latest Chiara theme to identify where built-in features could streamline pages and where light customization would improve clarity. Our UX/UI team redesigned all key templates in Adobe XD, focusing on a clearer homepage hero, simplified category layouts, and product pages that better communicate mix differences. We introduced a guided “Find Your Mix” flow, refreshed the About page with a concise version of Naomi’s story, and structured the Custom Formulation page to handle more complex requests. After approvals, we upgraded the store to the newest Chiara version, implemented the new layouts, cleaned up legacy styling issues, refined internal linking, and ensured responsiveness and performance across devices.


Outcome
Mami’s Gelato now has a modern, cohesive BigCommerce store that reflects their vibrant brand and makes it much easier for operators to discover, compare, and select the right plant-based mix. The refreshed Chiara theme, improved hierarchy, and new guided education paths all contribute to higher clarity, smoother navigation, and a more confident purchase experience. With a sharper user journey and a design that finally matches the quality of their products, Mami’s is positioned for stronger conversions and continued growth across the foodservice market.
