The Specialized Need
Home Billiards needed to correct product-variant, availability, pricing, search, filtering, and quote-request behavior within an established ecommerce experience. The work combined UX/UI changes, custom development, variant logic, search behavior, and phased SEO settings rather than fitting a conventional redesign or migration project.
Requirements & Constraints
The solution needed to support several interconnected rules:
Default shoppers to the appropriate in-stock variant.
Replace unavailable Add to Cart actions with a Request a Quote path.
Hide selected prices while preserving backend functions such as faceted search.
Improve the header, search, product-page layout, and filtering experience.
Avoid low-value filter combinations that generated weak result sets.
Handle variant indexing and canonicalization deliberately during the SEO work.
Custom Solution
The project coordinated storefront UX, variant-selection logic, pricing visibility, quote behavior, search/filtering, and SEO settings so the pieces could work together instead of being treated as separate fixes.
Implementation
Variant & Availability Logic
In-stock variant behavior was updated so customers were directed toward available product options rather than defaulting to unsuitable variants.
Request-a-Quote & Pricing Rules
Unavailable Add to Cart actions were replaced with Request a Quote behavior, while selected prices were hidden without removing the backend functionality required by the store.
Search, Filtering & Product UX
Header, search, product-page layout, and low-result filters were adjusted to create a clearer product-discovery experience.
SEO & Canonicalization
Variant-related search settings and canonicalization considerations were rolled out in phases as part of the implementation.
Validation
The project required coordination across variant state, pricing visibility, quote behavior, faceted search, filtering, and indexability because changes in one area could affect another.
Outcome
Home Billiards completed a specialized storefront update combining variant defaults, request-a-quote behavior, selective pricing, search/filtering improvements, product-page UX changes, and phased SEO configuration.
